Porter
Jankow Companies is currently seeking a qualified Porter to join our growing team! Under the direction of the Property Manager, the Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, curb appeal, and general upkeep of the assigned community. The Porter will achieve success by (1) ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents and guests, (2) supporting the Property Manager and Maintenance team with daily operations, (3) moving trash from resident trash rooms to the central trash room multiple times daily, (4) assisting with unit make-ready and light maintenance tasks, and (5) embodying Jankow Companies’ commitment to quality service and professionalism.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Perform daily cleaning of common areas including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, restrooms, amenity spaces, and other shared spaces.
• Move trash from resident trash rooms to the property’s primary trash collection area multiple times per day.
• Assist the Maintenance team with unit turns, including light cleaning and preparation of vacant apartments.
• Conduct daily inspections of the property, reporting safety hazards, maintenance needs, or cleanliness issues to the Property Manager.
• Supplement vendor services between scheduled cleanings (janitorial, landscaping, snow removal, etc.), including emergency cleanups as needed.
• Perform light groundskeeping tasks, including trash pickup, sweeping, leaf blowing, snow shoveling, and salting as required.
• Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor with residents, vendors, and coworkers, while routing all resident concerns through the Property Manager.
• Properly care for and maintain cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and follow instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset.
• Previous janitorial, custodial, or porter experience preferred but not required.

• Proper lifting and safety techniques are required.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Entry-level candidates welcome; prior porter/custodial experience a plus.
• Reliable and punctual with consistent attendance.
• No driver’s license required.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly wage: $16.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience.
