Job Title: Porter/Stores Operative
Trust Location: Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Location: Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Glossop Rd, Sheffield, S10 2JF
Shift Pattern: Monday – Sunday, 37.5 hours per week, 07:30-15:30
Pay: Band 2 - £12.08-£22.10 per hour (shift dependant)
OVERVIEW
NHS Professionals are seeking a pro-active and hardworking Porter/Stores Operative to work within the Pharmacy Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This temporary position involves supporting the pharmacy logistics and stores team to ensure the efficient and timely distribution of medicines and supplies across the hospital wards.
The post holder will play an integral role in supporting the pharmacy team, ensuring stock is managed effectively, and maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in a stores or porter role, ideally in a healthcare or pharmacy environment, is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable.
- NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 2 or willing to work towards (desirable but not essential)
- IT proficiency and basic understanding of Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to delivering excellent service to patients and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the pharmacy storage areas are kept safe, clean, and tidy at all times.
- Replenish stock levels and assist with stock rotation to maintain efficient inventory control.
- Assist in the receipt, checking, and storage of pharmaceutical deliveries in line with departmental procedures.
- Collect and deliver medications and supplies to various departments across the hospital as required.
- Safely handle returns of medications and other pharmacy items to the department, including waste disposal in line with regulations.
- Work closely and flexibly with other team members to support departmental needs.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment for all staff, patients, and visitors.
