This role will be working for Robertson Facilities Management based at Chester le Street Community Hospital. Your new role When it comes to your career, we deliver everything we promise too. As a Porter, you’ll be responsible for though not limited to: To carry out routine and ad hoc portering duties as required in support of the Trust’s clinical and administrative staff to ensure compliance with performance standards. These duties include delivery and collection of food, linen, clinical and domestic waste, pharmacy items and other supplies. Ensure that weekly performance statistics self monitoring sheets & Helpdesk sheets are recorded and provided to the Line Supervisor. To provide building security cover for the facilities by monitoring the CCTV units; carrying out perimeter & building checks, responding to alarms (including fire/oxygen/mortuary) & incidents, following up with reports, liaise with Trust staff and the police. To act as key holders, controlling access in accordance with procedures agreed with the Trust. To ensure the site grounds, roads & paths are free from litter & debris and the emptying of bins in and around the hospital. This includes the inner courtyards. As the Helpdesk base at Chester-le-Street, to respond to all helpdesk calls outside of normal business hours, acting to resolve problems within prescribed response times, calling out specialist support as required, logging and recording call histories for subsequent entry on to the computerised helpdesk system. The weekend and night shift will provide a 7-day floor cleaning service. The evening shift will provide an ad-hoc cleaning service to assist the Domestic team during absence. To carry out spillage cleaning as required. Responsible for ensuring that all internal and external mail is delivered/ collected in accordance with the Trust procedures. All registered mail is recorded & signed for by the individual. To manage the medical gas cylinders in line with the local RFM policy and as detailed within the Porters’ Procedures. To administer car parking duties which include reporting barrier faults and reporting illegally parked vehicles. To carry out winter gritting and snow clearing duties operating plant and machinery provided. To carry out mortuary duties as detailed within the Porters’ Procedures. To include Transportation of bodies, Handling valuables, Relatives viewings and Completing release documents for undertaker. To ensure that the facilities and services operate in compliance with Health and Safety legislation and procedures. Maintenance experience is desirable although not essential. The successful candidate will require a DBS/Disclosure Check.
