POSITION SUMMARY:

The Porter is a member of the peri-operative care team and is assigned to work with the physicians, nursing; MDR and housekeeping staff to provide support to patients and patient care staff. The Porter is responsible for providing support within the peri-operative area, including the Operating Room (O.R.), PACU, Endoscopy and SPAC, for various housekeeping, portering duties and the maintenance of supplies and equipment in an aseptic environment. In addition, the Porter will also support the MI, ER and Inpatient units and carry out responsibilities as assigned by these areas accordingly.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Surgical Inpatients, Porters, MDRD
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $26.62 to $28.20 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Education
  • Current BLS Certificate
  • First Aid Course (preferred)
  • Back/Lifting Program (preferred)

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to do heavy lifting and transferring of patients and machinery
  • Computer knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work
