The Portfolio Assurance & Risk Business Partner is part of a well-established team that provide assurance of the Projects & Programmes in the Portfolio and supports the Head of Risk Management & Business Resilience to embed risk management processes and a positive risk culture across the agency.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a varied and fast paced role, that will present the opportunity to work with a variety of senior key people, supporting a wide range of work across the agency. The successful post holder will engage confidently with senior leaders in DVSA, championing the assurance principles and values, encouraging an objective, positive, transparent assurance culture across the organisation. The role holder will identify trends and analyse data from across the Portfolio to provide insights to decisions makers leading the Agency.
The role holder will provide advice and support, and often challenge to risk champions and senior colleagues to highlight the importance of risk management and for making sound business decisions. Supporting the Head of Risk Management & Business Resilience to embed and improve the agency’s approach to risk management, to ensure there is robust risk control framework that takes account of best practice, including wider Departmental and Government policies and procedures.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Act as a key point of contact and provide for best practice advice for programmes, associated projects and related business areas.
  • Advise Senior Responsible Owners (SROs), programme and project teams with quality assurance and quality control activities within project lifecycles using insight from governance risk, and controls.
  • Provide support to the Head of Risk Management & Business Resilience to ensure an effective risk management framework is in place for the agency.
  • Act as a risk advocate, tackling risk hotspots as directed by the Head of Risk Management & Business Resilience, for example providing high level guidance for significant key projects.

  • Experience of giving sound advice and support to senior stakeholders
  • Experience of working in a project and/ or programme delivery environment
  • Proven track record of the implementation, management and assessment of processes and standards including templates.
  • Understanding of risk management policies and processe
