The VP, Portfolio Manager, CRE is responsible for the risk management of specific assigned lending relationships of CRE loans by loan exposure amount, and/or risk rating. Risk management of accounts includes partnering with the RM and client to ensure compliance with financial reporting, loan covenants, loan payment requirements, and accurate risk ratings. This position underwrites loans and prepares credit memorandum for approval on new loan originations for clients in assigned portfolio, including renewals, refinancing with or without cash out, modification of terms, annual loan reviews and loan deferment requests. The incumbent may also be asked to underwrite new loans for new borrowing relationships. Acts as a client team member with the Relationship Manager for their lending accounts and/or be the primary account manager for loan clients without a designated Relationship Manager. Credit files are to be kept current and maintain active communication with borrower to obtain all necessary information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field from a four-year college and/or work experience combined
  • 8+ years of commercial, business banking, credit analyst, underwriting, and portfolio management
  • Prior experience in credit analysis and/or preparation of credit memorandum for loan approvals
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office application
  • Experience in Credit Quest, Sageworks, Moody’s, Bukers or similar 3rd party vendor application
  • Demonstrated customer service and relationships with high organization skills, self-initiative, timely response to opportunities and client request
  • Maintained and established a CRE loan portfolio and captured business deposits
  • Demonstrated of effective interpersonal skills to articulate with consistent written and verbal communications with colleagues, clients, prospects, and community members
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and positive energy to work productively, positively, and professionally with colleagues
Responsibilities
  • Works independently and/or collaboratively in preparation of financial analysis and credit memoranda for a variety of needs of the client
  • Maintains record of all portfolio management activities using established bank client management and internal communication systems
  • Maintain clear understanding of loan administration and credit analysis
  • Focuses daily activities on a) ensuring information and credit files of all assigned borrowers are current, performance testing is timely and defaults/risk rating changes are accurate and; b) that there is active communication with borrowers that do not have a Relationship manager assigned
  • Develops and strengthens existing CRE relationships through frequently scheduled follow-up telephone calls, and personal meetings
  • Maintains a record of planned and completed portfolio management activity for all borrowers.
  • Prepares and underwrites credit memorandum in accordance with bank’s credit policy, reviews, verifies required documentation, and summary information when submitting loan requests to Credit Administration and the Credit Committee
  • Works closely with Credit Administration to ensure all assigned loan requests are processed in a timely manner; and keeps the loan applicant (client or prospect) duly informed throughout the loan application process
  • Maintains follow up with existing clients to ensure that the bank has timely and accurate financial information for purposes of loan monitoring and update of the bank’s credit files
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and review goals, objectives and results, obstacles and provide solutions
  • Attends all required community and business-related events and training sessions
  • Share best practices and successes to improve service, processes, procedures and product offerings
  • Understands and abides to all banking regulations and regulatory compliance procedures and the bank’s credit policy in all banking activities
  • Develops credit related procedures and follows established procedures and processes within Beneficial State Bank to ensure the bank’s overall compliance
  • May lead cooperative efforts among colleagues
  • Share best practices and recommends changes to policies, strategies, efficiency, and possibly quality improvement
  • May assist in establishing procedures that affects immediate work group needs
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations and internal company policies, including but not limited to BSA / Anti-Money Laundering, Fair Lending, Privacy, and Anti-Discrimination, to the extent each applies to current job responsibilities
