JOB SUMMARY

At DSIT we’re all about improving people’s lives by maximising the potential of science & technology.
We accelerate innovation, investment and productivity through world-class science, research and development.
We use technology for good by ensuring new and existing technologies are safely developed and deployed across the UK, with the benefits more widely shared.
We are driving forward a modern digital government which gives citizens a more satisfying experience and their time back.
We do all this to enable the Government’s 5 national missions: kick-starting economic growth, making Britain a clean energy superpower, taking back our streets, breaking down barriers to opportunity and building an NHS fit for the future.
Above all, we focus on improving people’s lives. Whether it’s researching new treatments for disease, developing better batteries, reducing burdens through better public services, keeping children safe online, and much more, outcomes for citizens are at the heart of what we do.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role reports to the Portfolio Management Lead in the Portfolio, Reporting, Risk and Insights team. You can expect your work to be exposed to high level departmental committees and senior decision-makers in the course of your work.
Portfolio management involves ensuring the alignment of investments e.g., projects and programmes to DSIT priorities and objectives; as an approach it allows senior leaders to view what is being delivered.
You will work with a wide range of stakeholders to develop portfolio management for DSIT, which will include working with a number of related networks and communities of practice. The work will be varied, and interesting, and will include working with information from across DSIT projects and activity to develop the portfolio view and to represent progress in visuals and dashboards
The role will include aspects of work across the immediate team. There will be elements of Benefits Management in the role, with some targeted support to the development of Insights. This will require a level of comfort working with a range of information to support reporting and development of visualisations using power BI or similar packages.
We encourage innovation and creative thinking and will support building capability through formal and informal learning, as well as by providing additional stretch. You will join a welcoming, diverse and inspiring working environment in which colleagues look out for and encourage one another.
