The Team: The Workforce Strategy and Planning Unit (WSPU) provides statewide leadership in cross‑sectoral health workforce strategy, policy and planning, to build a sustainable, skilled and future‑ready workforce for Tasmania. The Unit delivers integrated, evidence‑based workforce planning aligned with service and infrastructure planning, leads implementation and monitoring of the Health Workforce Sustainability Strategy and Plan, and ensures alignment with national workforce reforms and priorities. The Medical Workforce Policy and Strategy Unit (MWPSU) is a functional stream of the WSPU, providing dedicated leadership in medical workforce policy, strategy, education and training coordination, and medical staffing frameworks to support statewide consistency and sustainable medical workforce supply. The Role: This position supports the Medical Workforce Policy and Strategy Unit by delivering high‑quality policy and administrative outputs through a combination of research, analysis, drafting and complex coordination. It involves preparing policy briefs, advice and supporting documentation, coordinating executive and committee processes, and managing communications and documentation workflows to ensure work progresses efficiently and to agreed timeframes. Working under general direction, the position exercises professional judgement to independently prioritise tasks, coordinate multiple concurrent policy and strategy activities, and contribute to medical workforce policy development through evidence‑based research and analysis. It also plays a key role in stakeholder engagement, the circulation of sensitive policy materials, and the coordination of assigned project components, ensuring accuracy, alignment with established frameworks, and effective support for senior decision‑making. You will need * Experience supporting policy, project and executive functions in complex environments, including research, drafting and coordinating multiple priorities to meet agreed timeframes. * Proven capability in coordinating committees and governance processes, including agendas, minutes, action tracking and stakeholder input management. * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear policy materials and engage professionally and confidentially with diverse stakeholders.
