The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state. The Department offers a wide range of experience in trauma, hand and wrist surgery, skin cancer, burns and general paediatric and adult reconstructive surgery. There is an active teaching programme with a high degree of commitment from Consultants to teach and supervise. Research and publications are actively encouraged. The Department comprises of six Plastic Surgeons each with a super speciality interest, four Registrars (one PRS SET Trainee from the VIC/TAS training programme, 3 Unaccredited), one Surgical Basic Trainee (previously referred to as Senior Resident Medical Officer) and one Intern.
