The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre. The Emergency Department (ED) provides a tertiary level service for people with illness or injury 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Our busy ED provides care for >75,000 patients annually with an admission rate of more than 35% and a paediatric case load of 20%. The RHH ED has a co-located Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) which is a short stay ward for patients requiring a brief hospital stay (generally less than 24 hours).  The EMU has 24 short-stay beds operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a high turnover ward environment and a variety of clinical presentations. The Role: As a Registered Nurse (RN) within the RHH ED, you’ll work alongside more than 500 dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team members. The Tasmanian Health Service (THS) is expanding to meet the needs of our community. The ED is undergoing a re-development to provide purpose-built facilities to meet our patient’s needs. The ED is progressing toward the establishment of separate workforces for the ED and the Emergency Medical Unit (EMU/Short Stay). Recruitment through this process may allow for allocation to EMU only. Appointment to EMU requires a minimum of 12 months relevant experience. Applicants seeking to be considered exclusively for an EMU position should clearly indicate this preference in their 1–2 page statement. You will need: 1. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence based practice in the practice setting. 2. Ability to undertake patient/client education in the practice setting, together with a commitment to participate in ongoing professional development. 3. Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice. Details of appointment: Multiple fixed term, full time or part time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to twelve (12) months. *notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Salary: $80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. * Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
