POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT / OPERATIONAL LEAD

We’re excited to advertise our PBS / Operational Lead role at our specialist service in Salford Cares Office, Little Hulton area of Salford. This is a new role that is critical to lead, operationally manage and embed our reflective practice framework across the service, which will lead to better outcomes for the people we support.
This role will be working under the direction of the Registered Manager and Specialist Behaviour Nurse consultant you will lead a team of Team Leaders, Practice Leads and Autism Practitioners across the service, under the direction of the Registered Manager and Specialist Behaviour Nurse consultant you will lead a team of Team Leaders, Practice Leads and Autism Practitioners across the service.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Dedicated to creating and driving a culture of support which underpins Person Centred Support, Autism practice, active support, total communication, and PBS values
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and the value of this model
  • Has strong leadership skills and a track record of managing services of excellence.
  • Is responsive to a challenge and has strong resilience to be able to cope and recover from difficult situations that may arise.

The person applying for this post will:
· Will hold relevant Qualifications such as:
o Qualified to NVQ level 4 or above in management and care
o Diploma level 5 in Health and Social Care
o BTEC diploma level 5 in Positive Behaviour Support
o A post-graduate degree, in Applied Behaviour Analysis or Positive Behaviour Support
Qualities and Attributes of a PBS Lead/ Operational Manager
· Will have experience of supporting people with an Autism Spectrum Condition and/or Learning disability who have complex behavioural support needs
· Experience of clinical observation and conducting Functional Analysis
· Can demonstrate experience of working effectively with other relevant professionals
· Significant experience of delivering staff, coaching, mentoring and supervision
· Experience of the development and implementation and evaluation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans
· Will be adaptable and resilient and able to take on a challenge and see it through to its conclusion
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Will have a personal commitment to the rights of people who access support services
· Able to provide hands on support and care for people whose behaviour can present a challenge
· An interest in health and wellbeing for both the people we support and our staff
· A commitment to the reduction of restrictive practice.
· Person centred with people supported and their staff teams
· Confident to challenge poor practice in a positive and proactive manner
· Flexible with the needs of the service
· Able to share knowledge and skills with others
· Dedicated to and experience of creating a culture of support which underpins Person Centred Support, Autism Practice, Active Support, Total Communication and PBS values across services and staff teams
· Proactive and creative with new ideas for successful outcomes for people supported
· Excellent interactions with people supported and their staff
· Able to lead, mentor, supervise and coach colleagues to meet their full potential and promote good quality support
· Eager to develop own skills and knowledge through continuous professional development
· Organised and able to manage time and workload effectively
