Join the compassionate and highly-skilled nursing team at Sentara Leigh Hospital's Same Day Surgery/PACU unit. In this role, you will provide critical phase I and II recovery care for patients immediately following a wide variety of surgical procedures. You will work closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary staff to monitor vital signs, manage airways, and ensure patient comfort and safe discharge.   Key Responsibilities * Post-Anesthesia Assessment: Conduct comprehensive post-anesthesia evaluations, with a heavy emphasis on airway management, hemodynamic stability, and pain control. * Patient Monitoring: Observe patients for adverse effects of anesthesia, monitoring level of consciousness and vital signs throughout the sedation recovery process. * Medication Administration: Safely administer post-operative medications and treatments as ordered by physicians. * Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the broader healthcare team to prioritize patient acuity and smooth unit flow. * Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and their families regarding post-operative care and provide clear discharge instructions.   Qualifications & Requirements * Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN or MSN is strongly preferred. * Licensure: Current, active Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license. * Certifications: * Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire. * Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days to 1 year of hire (depending on unit). * PACU certification is strongly preferred. * Experience: Prior RN experience in PACU, ICU, or the OR is strongly preferred.
