Description

The House of Innovation is looking for a dedicated scholar with a robust research background to join us for three years. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working collaboratively with a dynamic team. The position will be at the heart of growing research programs on sustainable business development through transformative innovation and entrepreneurship, the twin transition (green and digital) of industries, and business ethics, working primarily with Professors Mattia Bianchi and Suvi Nenonen. The position comes with an option to teach and strong support to publish existing research from the PhD.
The successful candidate has built a research agenda during their PhD and is keen to develop new datasets and extend methodological and theoretical expertise. The general disciplinary background should be entrepreneurship, innovation, organization and the natural environment, with a strong interest in regenerative business models, systems thinking and market emergence, and the ambition to publish on the highest levels in management and organization science. The research program focuses on the quantification, monetization and commercialization of ecosystem services, with a particular emphasis on forests. It addresses critical questions about the development of new mechanisms to create markets for preserving and regenerating natural ecosystems—such as carbon trading and biodiversity credits. The program also explores the role of entrepreneurial initiatives, emerging technologies, and innovative business models in valorizing traditionally non-commercial public goods and moving beyond resource extraction as the dominant value creation approach for nature.
A background with experience in qualitative methods (case studies, interviews and observations) is essential. Knowledge of quantitative methods is also welcome. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about advancing our understanding of the tensions between economy and ecology, and exploring how these challenges can be addressed through multi-level transformations—ranging from novel technologies, products and platforms to emerging markets, communities, and mindsets.
The postdoc position is also part of MISUM (Mistra Center for Sustainable Markets), which is SSE’s cross-disciplinary Center of Excellence on sustainability research. The applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent and show an ability and aspiration to publish manuscripts in the top journals of our field. Priority will be given to candidates with research relevant to the topics above. Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) is a requirement, while proficiency in Swedish (written and spoken) is an advantage. We expect the candidate to relocate to Stockholm.
