The University of Pittsburgh, Ophthalmology Department, Dr Hysi Lab is searching for a talented and highly motivated postdoc to join a big data project seeking to leverage next-generation sequencing information and cutting edge statistical learning techniques to characterize mechanisms leading to age-related eye disease. Responsibilities: 1. Implement, adapt, or design computational methodologies that allow joint analyses of large multi-omics datasets. 2. Lead work on the identification of modifiable biomarkers and assess their potential clinical utility. 3. Effectively communicate findings through publications to scientific and peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, and explain the relevance of work to lay audiences, patient groups, and relevant stakeholders. 4. Collaboratively contribute and mutually support other members of the research team. 5. Help advise and direct graduate research students and share knowledge with colleagues within the group and department. 6. Uphold the highest values and academic standards. The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post Qualifications: 1. PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, epi/genomics, genetic epidemiology, statistics or similar areas. 2. Demonstrable prior experience in the analyses of omics (genomics, epigenomics, metabolomics), particularly high-throughput sequencing, bulk, single-cell, and single-nucleus DNA and RNA sequencing. 3. Robust knowledge of linear and non-linear statistical models. 4. Proficiency in any of the following: Python, R, or programming languages. 5. Solid knowledge of Linux and high-performance computing. 6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 7. Exceptional ability to work both independently and in teams. Responsibilities
