Description
The Department of Medicine, Vascular Medicine Institute, lab of Dr. Sruti Shiva, studies the mechanisms by which mitochondrial signaling and bioenergetics regulate platelet function to propagate thrombotic and vascular diseases. The lab uses a combination of in vitro technology, in vivo murine models, and human specimens to investigate platelet and vascular function in diseases including pulmonary hypertension, hemophilia and sickle cell disease among others. The Postdoc Associate will be responsible for investigating platelet mitochondrial function. Specifically, this will include performing biochemical and molecular biology experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results to write grants and papers. Minimum requirements include PhD in biological science or related field with experience in platelet biology, inherited bleeding disorders, vascular biology, mitochondrial biology or inflammation signaling. Interested applicants should apply via www.join.pitt.edu requisition #25006214.
