Description

POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION IN DIVISION OF CARDIOLOGY UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

A full-time postdoctoral position is available in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine, School of Medicine, University of Maryland, Baltimore in the laboratory of Dr. Zhekang Ying. NIH funded projects in the laboratory are investigating the biological mechanisms whereby PM2.5 exposure provokes various adverse health effects. The lab is now focused on understanding how maternal exposure to PM2.5 programs offspring’s susceptibility to obesity. Additional studies aim to understand how PM2.5 exposure provokes hypothalamic inflammation and subsequently influence glucose homeostasis. The lab uses multidisciplinary approaches that include biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, modulation of mouse models, and state of the art inhalation exposure techniques. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly self-motivated individual to conduct research into the mechanism whereby maternal exposure to PM2.5 programs offspring’s susceptibility to obesity. Research experience in molecular biology and toxicology such as handling of genetically modified mouse models and inhalation exposure is desirable but not required.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or M.D. /Ph.D. in Molecular Biology/Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Physiology/Toxicology or related field is preferred. Salary will commensurate with experience. Please send recent CV/bio sketch with reference contacts by e-mail to Dr. Zhekang Ying at zying@medicine.umaryland.edu
