Description
The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Neurological Surgery is hiring a Post Doctoral Associate. In this position, the applicant will be responsible for running and assisting in overseeing, scientific experiments examining secondary injury cascades and therapeutic interventions in multiple experimental models of traumatic brain injury. Primary roles include: 1) completion of surgeries and synaptic functional assays, with experience implementing in vivo microdialysis, stereotaxic injections, and HPLC experiments is a strength, 2) completion of tissue assays to address experimental molecular and histological outcomes, 3) assistance in completion of regulatory processes for experimental procedures, 4) communication of scientific findings in written and oral formats for local, regional and national audiences and for peer review, 5) assistance in the writing of applications for acquiring research grants, 6) supervising and mentoring of team members in aspects of experimental assays pertinent to scientific goals. For the successful completion of these essential duties, an applicant with experience of at least 4 years in rodent experimental models of TBI, communicating scientific findings in peer-reviewed publications, and grant applications will be viewed as strengths. An applicant will also be expected to be involved in routine journal club and presentation opportunities within our laboratory team, Research Center, and Department. The minimum education to be considered for this position is a PhD in a related field.
