POSITION SUMMARY:

The Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research (CSTR) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate position to carry out research in solar physics. The appointment is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year contingent upon the availability of funding. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in physics, astrophysics, space physics, or a closely related field.
  • At the university’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Linux/Unix operating systems, Python programming language, and software development. Experience in radio interferometry and synthesis imaging is considered a plus, but not a prerequisite.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct original research in solar physics using data from Owens Valley Solar Arrays (OVSA), Solar Orbiter (SolO), Parker Solar Probe (PSP), and other complementary instruments.
  • Support data processing and validation for OVSA data users as requested.
  • Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research, for example, prepare papers for publication in scientific journals, and prepare and present findings at professional conferences.
