Salary Structure

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in a related field such as engineering, materials science, physics, or chemistry is required.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following experimental techniques, particularly in relation to soft matter: neutron, x-ray and/or light scattering, x-ray scattering.
  • Experience in laboratory methods of physical property characterization techniques, designing experiments and handling of chemicals and polymermaterials.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct scientific research utilizing a range of experimental characterization techniques with the focus on Neutron Spin Echo and allied neutron scattering methods. This can involve travel to beamline facilities other than NIST.
  • Supervise undergraduate researcher(s).
  • Complete data acquisition manuals and technical reports with the guidance of the PI and instrument scientists
  • Responsible for data management, analysis, and presentation of results to sponsors and at relevant scientific conferences.
  • Assist in the design, execution, and analysis of NSE experiments at the NCNR.
