Description

The Post Doctoral Scholar will play a leading role in the planning and design of a proposed large-scale manipulative research project in the prairie pothole region. Assist in building a coalition of partners and collaborators as part of development of the research proposal. Identify and select problems to be addressed quantitatively with existing long term wildlife data from the Chicago area.
Use various analytical techniques to answer questions related to wildlife disease dynamics, genetics, social behavior, and general urban ecology of mammalian predators. Prepare results for publication in reports, peer-reviewed journals, books, and other media. Prepare seminars, talks or lectures for dissemination of knowledge, particularly the results of research undertaken.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in wildlife management, biology/ecology, ecosystem or environmental science, or a related discipline
  • At least 1 year post-PhD degree with experience developing large-scale study designs and proposals to address applied ecological questions
  • Strong interest in applied and basic landscape ecology with respect to predator or wildlife conservation
  • Extensive experience with remote sensing data and its analysis, and geospatial skills
  • Strong statistical background
  • Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel periodically for reports and meetings
