The Ohio State University, College of Engineering, William G. Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering is seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to work under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Kwon.
We’re seeking a creative Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team and advance cutting-edge multiscale and hybrid modeling—integrating first-principles simulations with machine learning—for chemical and biological applications. You will design and implement models ranging from molecular to process scales, develop model-predictive control and optimization strategies, run high-performance numerical experiments, analyze data, and communicate your findings through journal publications and conference presentations. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (or a related field), is proficient in both mechanistic modeling and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and has strong programming skills (Python/MATLAB/C++). Join us to tackle sustainability and biomanufacturing challenges, mentor students, collaborate across disciplines, and help translate transformative research into real-world impact.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
1 year of prior research experience on multiscale modeling, hybrid modeling, and model-based control or related fields
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
3 years of prior research experience on multiscale modeling, hybrid modeling, and model-based control or related fields.
