Description

The Post Doctoral Scholar will pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor; conducts research to characterize the immunologic and genetic basis of human cancers; develops, adopts and implements new experimental methods to achieve further characterization of various human immune cell types, their respective developmental pathways; identifies novel genes and examines their role in the development of immunologic approaches to disease treatment; analyzes changes in mRNA or protein expression, flow cytometric analysis, gene cloning and mutation detection; participates in analyzing data for reports for the purpose of grants submissions; designs and conducts pre-clinical studies using a variety of disease models in mice; trains staff. Previous experience working with research animals (mice), DNA/RNA/Protein isolation, purification, PCR/qPCR, Western and Northern blot techniques, Molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, Flow cytometric data collection and analysis, Confocal microscopy, Illumina/Agilent RNAseq library construction, Microarray, Bioanalyzer (Agilent). Immunohistochemistry. Training others in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, real time PCR. Management of large-scale sample processing.
Education/Experience:
A Doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline is required. Extensive prior experience in the fields of cancer and immunology is desirable. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
