Description

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Post Office Counter Clerk to join our team at our busy Post Office branch. The successful candidate will be instrumental in providing excellent customer service, handling mail, processing transactions, and supporting the overall operations of the Post Office. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing community members with friendly and efficient service.
Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Greet and assist customers with mail services including postage, mailing parcels, and registered mail.
  • Handle customer inquiries, provide information on postal products and services, and resolve issues with a positive, customer-first attitude.

Transactional and Mail Handling:

  • Process financial transactions such as selling stamps, weighing packages, and ensuring accurate pricing for mailing services.
  • Manage the receipt, dispatch, and logging of mail and parcels in accordance with postal regulations.

Compliance and Operations:

  • Adhere to all operational procedures and company policies to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the customer service area.

Inventory Management:

  • Help manage inventory of stamps, packaging supplies, and other postal products.
  • Conduct stock checks and assist in ordering supplies to ensure availability of necessary items.

Financial Management:

  • Handle cash and complete transactions using the register; participate in cashing up and managing till balances.

Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing regular reports on transaction volumes, service issues, and customer feedback to help enhance service quality.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in customer service or retail environments preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with customers.
  • Basic understanding of financial transactions and cash handling.
  • Ability to multitask and handle busy periods with a calm and organized approach.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software relevant to retail and postal services.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
