Description

With cutting-edge research in the fields of ENERGY, HEALTH and MATTER, around 1,500 employees from more than 70 nations at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) are committed to mastering the great challenges facing society today.
The Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS) is a German-Polish research center for data-intensive digital systems research.
The Department of Scientific Computing Core is looking for a Postdoc (f/m/d) Biodiversity Modelling.

Responsibilities
  • Determination of the most appropriate statistical algorithms for assigning soil fauna species to ecological groups
  • Collation of available morphological and behavioural traits most appropriate for classifying species/taxa into such groups
  • Construction of (together with Edaphobase developers) software routines to aggregate taxon-specific observational data into ecological groups at the (spatial) site level
  • Use of general dissimilarity models or similar algorithms to determine spatial changes in these groups as well as the environmental drivers of such changes
  • Interpretation and assessment of the species distribution models developed in Task Area 1 to explain the spatial distribution of these ecological/functional groups in relation to major environmental conditions
  • Working closely together with Task Area 3 to implement the developed statistical procedures in an automated, online soil-biodiversity assessment platform
  • Preparation of project reports together with the partner institutions
  • Representation and presentation of the project, i.e. at conferences, in scientific publications, etc.
