Description

The Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering at Faculty of Technical Sciences at Aarhus University invites applications for a position at the intelligent Advanced Materials group led by Prof. Dr. Anja-Verena Mudring as a postdoc in the field of synthesis and characterization of advanced solid materials.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The intelligent Advanced Materials group at the Department of Bio- and Chemical Engineering, led by Prof. Dr. Anja-Verena Mudring is currently exploring new materials for a sustainable society. Sustainability is one of our basic requirements. Thus, the development of clean technology that minimizes our environmental impact is of utmost importance.
You will contribute, both independently and in collaboration with others, to the development of the department’s field of study through research of high international quality. You will work closely together with both Danish and international colleagues.

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Solid state synthesis of advanced materials.
  • Crystallization of and out of molten salts and ionic liquids.
  • Structure analysis with X-ray and entron diffraction.
  • Property characterisation using a physical property measurement system (PPMS) and a SQUID magnetometer (MPMS).
  • Ab-initio DFT calculations for property predication and analysis.
  • Data analysis and interpretation, including theoretical modelling.
  • Establishing structure-property relationships and pushing the frontiers of the field.
  • Collaborating nationally and internationally within your field of research.
  • Dissemination of your research to the outside world through scientific publications.

WHO WE ARE

The Institute of Biological and Chemical Engineering (BCE) has a strong focus on providing solutions for a sustainable future. Close collaboration with our neighboring Departments (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Molecular Biology & Genetics, iNano, Biosciences, Food, Agroecology, and Chemistry) is a natural part of our culture. The successful applicant will be working with Materials Science and Engineering and will produce and disseminate knowledge and research results. Translation of results into solving relevant societal challenges is a highly prioritized part of our work.
