  • Assist with and Conduct scientific research on inflammation and metabolism in MASLD and hepatocellular carcinoma progression under Dr. Michael Karin Ph.D., incoming Professor at the Institute.
  • Develop novel anti-MASLD/MASH and cancer therapies based on specific target molecules and the molecular mechanisms underlying disease initiation/progression related to inflammation and metabolism. Specifically, will elucidate the role of macrophages in the progression of MASLD/MASH and HCC.
  • Perform a wide variety of experimental research techniques related to liver disease biology research.
  • Independently perform RNA sequencing and cell signaling analyses, cell-sorting, immunofluorescence staining, IHC Scoring and independently collect and analyze the resulting data.
  • Work with genetically engineered mouse models of development of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma, and human cell lines of pancreatic cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma for investigating novel immunotherapeutic and molecular targeted drugs. In addition, knowledge of cell isolation from specific tissues with magnetic beads and FACS, followed by functional analysis of these cells in the development and progression of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma, is of importance. The goal of his research is to develop a novel cancer therapeutic strategy for better patient outcomes
