Description

Dr. Li Ma’s lab at MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking postdoctoral fellows to study cancer metastasis, immune response, and immunotherapy response. Since 2010, our lab has made major contributions to understanding microRNA and lncRNA regulation of metastasis, the role of deubiquitinases in cancer, and cancer cell-intrinsic mechanisms of immune evasion (high-impact publications in Nature Medicine, Nature Genetics, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Metabolism, Nature Communications, etc). Recent work includes discoveries in bone metastasis mechanisms (Nature Communications 2024; Science Translational Medicine 2025, in press) and immune-metabolic crosstalk in liver regeneration (Nature Metabolism 2024). Our research has been widely cited (>18,000 citations on Google Scholar). Dr. Ma is deeply committed to mentoring: seven alumni have secured independent faculty positions with their own funding; some have published strong last, corresponding-author papers (Nature Communications 2022, Journal of Cell Biology 2023, Nature Communications 2024, etc).

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

We welcome highly motivated and creative candidates with a recently awarded Ph.D. degree.

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong first-author publications
  • Excellent work ethic and critical thinking ability
  • Solid bench skills (e.g., molecular biology, cell biology, mouse models)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
