This a grant funded contractual position. Key Responsibilities: The selected candidate will serve as a full-time researcher in the Department of Medicine, with 100%25 research time supported by the Centre for IMPACT grant awarded to the Department. The primary purpose of this role is to support the implementation of CVD (cardiovascular diseases) research and capacity-building activities, while contributing to the University’s and Department’s independent CVD research capacity. The candidate will plan, execute, and manage CVD-related research projects, including monitoring, process evaluation, and data analysis, while completing on the-job research training. They will also publish and present findings under the mentorship and guidance of the Pls of the grant. In addition, the role entails overall coordination of the research project, including preparing and updating project documents, training research staff, implementing activities across field sites in Thatta and Matiari, liaising with stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution, and compiling reports. The candidate will be responsible to: Implementation and supervision of Research project, ensure training research staff and LHWs and LHS. Device process of monitoring of field activities to ensure quality and as per set timelines. Developing SoPs for project and administrative processes and procedures to facilitate standardized practices at field sites, hiring and training of field staff as per projects requirements. Prepare progress of the project activities, coordinating data managers for data management, coordinating with laboratory management for specimen testing and reporting. Evaluating the performance of field staff and providing feedback to them, conducting internal audits and quality checks on-going research activities and reporting to the principal investigators with action plans and recommendations Hiring and training of SR, and other staff as per projects requirements. Collaborating closely with administrative staff to ensure sufficient supplies and optimal staff as at field sites on day-to-day basis. Preparing and managing field schedules and ensure required logistics to meet the timelines. Ensure quality checks by random field visits Liaise with community and government stake holders and other collaborators and all tiers to ensure smooth running of projects’ activities within the settings Preparation and compilation of study progress report In collaboration with the Data Manager, produce monthly project reports. Present the study results as per the requirement. Any other task/s assign by the PI/Co-PIs Incumbent will be required to travel to field sites (Thatta and Matiari); might require staying at remote locations as per the requirement of project activities. International travels will also be involved as per the requirement. Requirements: PhD Research with a focus on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) or Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs), from AKU or a recognized university. Relevant field or research experience in NCD/CVD studies, including community or population-based research, is preferred. Strong understanding of research design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination in health research Experience of working at an academic institution/university as a research faculty will be an added advantage. Long term commitment to NCD research, and interest in NCD is also a added advantage. Capability to manage field team, work independently and take initiative. Excellent training skills. Ability to plan field activities and/or complex tasks. Integrity and strong research ethics. Ability to provide conceptual and technical input to a diverse range of research studies in the department and the institution. Ability to work collegially with community and government stakeholders. Familiarity with government health system particularly in rural settings. Good academic writing skills. Capability to manage field team, work independently and take initiative.
