Description
Applications are now invited for the positions of Postdoctoral Fellow(s) and Research Assistant(s) in AI-enabled orthopaedic research. Our multidisciplinary team is engaged in cutting-edge translational projects that integrate Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Surgical Navigation technologies. Current work includes the development of: (1) AR-based surgical navigation systems; (2) AI-assisted arthroscopic planning tools; (3) AI diagnostic platforms using CT Scans/X-ray/MRI data; and (4) Surgical planning systems leveraging LLMs. We seek motivated individuals with strong academic and research capabilities, particularly in grant proposal writing, paper drafting, and project coordination. While technical knowledge is expected, we value independent thinkers who can help wrap up research output and contribute to successful submissions. For the position of Postdoctoral Fellow(s), applicants should have/be (i) a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related disciplines; (ii) a proven track record in research proposal writing, peer-reviewed publications, and project management; and (iii) strong communication and collaboration skills. Having experience with AI/ML, AR/VR, medical imaging, or surgical technology is preferred. Familiarity with Python and/or frontend frameworks (e.g., Vue.js, JavaScript) is a plus, but not mandatory. For the position of Research Assistant(s), applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree or a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline; (ii) strong interest in academic research, medical technologies and AI applications; and (iii) the ability to assist in software testing or simple annotation tasks. Prior experience in academic writing, literature reviews, or managing research data will be advantageous. The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) supporting or leading the preparation of grant proposals, research manuscripts, and conference abstracts; (b) coordinating with internal and external collaborators to facilitate project execution; (c) assisting in software development/testing, clinical data handling, and study documentation (depending on role level); and (d) contributing to project reporting, milestone tracking, and presentation preparation. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement. Applicants should submit the following documents in the online application: (1) a detailed CV highlighting research experience, academic achievements, and technical or writing portfolios; (2) copies of academic certificates; and (3) two reference letters. The University only accepts and considers applications submitted online for the post above via the CUHK career site. For more information and to apply online, please visit http://career.cuhk.edu.hk.
