Description

The Sports Medicine Team of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology is now inviting applications for the post(s) of Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Associate or Research Assistant for conducting basic research on musculoskeletal tissue repair. Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, or Biology, with relevant research experience in a well-recognised university; (ii) good research skills, such as molecular and cell biology techniques (cell culture, RNA-seq, qPCR, flow cytometry); (iii) good publication record; (iv) good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; and (v) the ability to work independently. Experience in stem cell culture and characterisation, tissue engineering, transcriptomics and lipidomics data analysis will be an advantage. Other applicants with (1) an MPhil degree plus four years of post-qualification relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Research Associate(s); (2) a BSc degree with relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant(s). With the agreement from the supervisor, the appointee(s) may take the project for his/her PhD research study. The appointee(s) will work in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin under the supervision of Prof. Pauline Lui. Duties include (a) studying the effects of various therapeutics for musculoskeletal tissue repair; (b) identifying novel markers and pathways of tendinopathy using untargeted transcriptomics and lipidomics approaches; (c) preparing grant proposals, research reports and papers; and (d) performing common laboratory management duties. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
