Description
The Department of Paediatrics is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to support research in pediatric leukemia genomics. The appointee will join a training‑focused research programme investigating genetic predisposition and oncogenic mechanisms in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia, including work stemming from recent discoveries on germline GATA3 variants and CRLF2‑rearranged B‑cell leukemia. The position offers opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration with local, national, and international research partners, and provides access to advanced genomic, epigenomic, and functional genomics platforms. Applicants should have (i) a PhD in genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a related discipline (obtained within the past five years); (ii) a strong publication record in cancer genomics and/or functional genomics; (iii) proficiency in R/Python and genomic analysis pipelines; and (iv) wet‑lab experience in molecular biology or genome engineering is preferred. The appointee will be responsible for (a) conducting independent and collaborative research on germline and somatic drivers of childhood leukemia; (b) analysing large‑scale genomic datasets with emphasis on non‑coding functional annotation; (c) performing CRISPR‑Cas9 editing, ChIP‑seq, RNA‑seq, and related molecular biology experiments; (d) preparing manuscripts and presenting research findings at conferences; (e) assisting in the preparation of grant proposals; and (f) providing mentorship to graduate students and contributing to academic activities. The appointee will work under the direct supervision of Prof. Hui Zhang, with structured mentorship and regular progress reviews. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years, renewable subject to good performance, funding and mutual agreement. Applicants should submit (i) a full curriculum vitae; (ii) a cover letter outlining research interests and career goals; and (iii) the contact details of two referees. The University only accepts and considers applications submitted online for the post above via the CUHK career site. For more information and to apply online, please visit http://career.cuhk.edu.hk.
