OVERVIEW
The Laboratory of Interneuron Developmental Dynamics (headed by Lynette Lim) at the VIB Center for Brain and Disease in KU Leuven is in the University Hospital Campus, Leuven, Belgium. Our lab is interested in the developmental programs that shape inhibitory circuits in the brain. Specifically, we are interested in how distinct populations of inhibitory neurons are generated, how these cells mature to generate functional circuits, and how their defects drive neurodevelopmental and degenerative diseases. To this end, our work combines various interdisciplinary techniques such as mouse genetics of disease models, human pluripotent stem cells derived neurons, high content imaging, electrophysiology, single cell RNA sequencing, bioinformatics, and spatial transcriptomics technologies.
We are a team of 8 people, from 5 different countries in 3 distinct continents. We’re actively seeking ambitious individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to join our dynamic laboratory. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives thrive, and people can feel free to disagree. Utilizing cutting-edge techniques like single-cell analysis, CRISPR technology, stem cell research, whole-brain clearing, and in vivo imaging, we’re dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of circuit development and assembly.
If you’re a highly motivated, resilient, and objective directed, with a strong background in experimental neurobiology, molecular biology, we want to hear from you. Your unique experiences and perspectives are invaluable to our team.
