POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN HEALTH PROFESSIONS EDUCATION RESEARCH
Background: Drs. Elif Bilgic and Sandra Monteiro at the MERIT Centre are seeking applications for a one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in health professions education research, with the possibility of renewal. The fellowship is designed to support the career development of an early-stage education researcher and to contribute to advancing scholarship at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), virtual simulation, and assessment in health professions education.
The successful candidate will be appointed as a MERIT Scholar and will join a vibrant community of interdisciplinary researchers at the MERIT Centre, McMaster University.
The McMaster Health Education, Research, Innovation, and Theory (MERIT) Centre has served the Faculty of Health Sciences for more than 45 years. Our vision is to grow a community of scientists and clinicians to advance health professions education through research and applied science.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will engage in education research that advances the integration of AI-enhanced technologies and virtual simulation in assessment and learning. Working under the joint supervision of Dr. Elif Bilgic, whose research focuses on simulation-based education and assessment innovation, and Dr. Sandra Monteiro, whose research focuses on cognitive and learning sciences in health professions education, the Fellow will have the unique opportunity to collaborate across domains.
Time will be shared equally between both supervisors (50% with each), fostering a dynamic and interdisciplinary research experience.
