Description

Department of Public Health invites applicants for a Postdoc fellowship in the complexities of women’s menopausal transitions. The project is part of the interdisciplinary research initiative Women in Healthy Transition (KISO).
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic postdoctoral researcher for a two-year position. The starting date is as soon as possible, preferable no later than May 1, 2025.
Through a qualitative research approach, this postdoctoral position focuses on exploring how the menopausal transition is bodily experienced and how it can influence women’s everyday lives. The role involves conducting in-depth interviews and focus groups to understand the lived experiences of women during menopause through a sociological lens. You will be part of a highly interdisciplinary milieu.

PROFILE

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher within the Social Science of Health Promotion with the following competencies and experience.

Essential experience and skills:

  • You have a PhD in sociology, public health, anthropology, psychology, or sport and exercise social science.
  • You are highly experienced in using qualitative methods including in-depth individual interviews and focus groups as well as in analysing and interpreting qualitative data.
  • You have an active interest in understanding individual experiences through a theorical lens, preferably sociological theories addressing bodies, emotions and women’s health.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken
  • Fluency in Danish at the start is a non-negotiable requirement to conduct the qualitative study

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Experience in writing scientific articles within the field of social science
  • Being self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as competent to collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary research team
  • Having a creative and curious mindset with a strong interest in the everyday life of women, menopause and health
Responsibilities
  • Planning, organizing, and conducting focus groups and individual interviews with women at various stages of the menopausal transition.
  • Qualitative analysis of empirical material including transcription, coding and framing.
  • Completing literature reviews and writing and co-authoring research articles in top-level journals.
  • Project presentations at national and international conferences and seminars.
  • Contribution to the development and progression of the Women in Healthy Transition Initiative, including establishing relevant research network in collaboration with other researchers.
  • Administration tasks such as data management (organising and archiving of data, sharing of data with research group members), reports preparation, contribution to project website, organizing of and participation in research group activities such as seminars, workshops and meetings.
