Description:

As part of the Faraday Institution’s SOLBAT project, we aim to break down the barriers that are preventing the progression to market of solid-state batteries. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, carrying out research on solid-state batteries, with expertise, proven by a strong publication record, in one or preferably more of the following areas:

  • Solid-state materials chemistry,
  • Solid-state electrochemistry (including EIS and electrochemical modelling),
  • Characterisation of air and beam sensitive materials and interfaces in solid-state batteries including:
  • In-situ, operando and ex-situ techniques (X-ray and neutron, computed X-ray tomography, spectroscopy)
  • Electron microscopy (eg FIB/SEM, EDX and sample preparation)

With a background in the field of solid-state batteries, you will be a well organised and self-motivated scientist, with the ability to manage the day-to-day running of a research project. You will have (or be close to completion of) a relevant PhD and appropriate specialist knowledge in the discipline, as well as excellent communication and writing skills. This position will be offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.
