Full time, fixed term for two years (with the possibility of extension) Located on the Camperdown Campus, University of Sydney Base Salary Academic Level A $109,263 - $121,054 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity Established as the first computer science department in Australia, the School of Computer Science (SCS) is research intensive and has a strong tradition of research-led teaching. The School offers undergraduate majors in computer science, information systems, data science and software development within its flagship Bachelor of Advanced Computing degree and combined degree programs with commerce and science. SCS also offers postgraduate coursework degrees in Computer Science, Data Science, Complex systems and the Master of Health Technology Innovation. We are currently seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in all algorithmic areas of Theoretical Computer Science. In this role you will work closely with Drs Wirth, Mestre and Canonne on algorithmic research projects, and contribute to the collegial culture of the Sydney Algorithms and Computing Theory group (SACT) at the School of Computer Science. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to attend flagship theoretical computer science conferences to present your work, and to mentor HDR and Honours students. Your key responsibilities will be to: conduct high-quality research independently and collaboratively (with Drs Wirth, Mestre and Canonne) to advance the state-of-the-art of algorithmic research publish research outcomes in leading international conferences participate in the research activities of the broader SACT group (seminars, reading group, etc.) mentor graduate and undergraduate students adhere to and promote the University's health, safety, and ethical guidelines. This recruitment forms part of a broader campaign: We anticipate additional postdoctoral vacancies in the SACT group coming online later this year.
