Our researchers are in a strong position, backed by the resources and expertise of our partners, the University of Sydney and the Sydney Local Health District, to translate the university’s research into positive outcomes for community health We have an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support the IMH directors and the Institute’s research program. Your key responsibilities will be to: Support and conduct original research as part of a team, focusing on publication, conference presentations, and securing research funding. Contribute to and assist with the implementation of the strategic and operational objectives of the IMH. Contribute significantly to successful applications for competitive research grants and/or funding to deliver research impact. Maintain quality, standards, and excellence in the Institute’s research activities and output. Provide training, informal mentoring, and guidance to lower-level academics and supervise postgraduate research students or projects where appropriate. Develop research collaborations and engage in translational research that results in knowledge or technology transfer leading to commercialisation, improved policy or practice, or enhancement to industry, the profession, or community. Attend and contribute to IMH/School/Faculty meetings. Contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence, and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled. Understand and contribute to furthering the university and faculty/school strategic agenda. Bring and maintain a research profile, including (as appropriate) publication of book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, and producing conference/seminar papers either independently or as part of a team (within the University or externally). Contribute expertise and knowledge through communication with industry, forums of public debate, organisation of public events, seminars, and conferences. Develop productive relationships, collaborations, and partnerships with external parties (including research partners, government bodies, and industry) which will ultimately contribute to improved outcomes for the profession, industry, and/or community. Undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required. About you a doctorate or PhD degree and experience in public health or medicine with a focus on better value health care extensive experience in qualitative research interest and experience in healthy ageing and musculoskeletal health and conditions experience in managing strategic and research operational activities proven experience in conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity proven experience supervising and mentoring others a developing research profile in area of expertise a developing network of academic, industry and professional partners and stakeholders excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders strong organisational and problem-solving skills Sponsorship / work rights for Australia You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply.
