Description
We are hiring a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work with Dr. Jooyeon Hwang (PI) on a state-funded project assessing firefighter exposure to carcinogenic compounds in fire smoke. The study partners with local and regional fire departments and uses a multi-omics approach to explore links between occupational exposures and cancer risk. This is a two-year full-time position and extension possible pending funding availability. This position involves field-based sampling and exposure monitoring in firefighter work environments and laboratory-based analyses. What we do here changes the world. Position Summary: A postdoc position provides an opportunity for early-career researchers to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their field of expertise. Position Key Accountabilities: · Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results. · Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees. · Reads and evaluates literature. · Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels. · Have strong written and oral communication skills. · Design and conduct sampling campaigns in occupational settings, particularly fire service environments. · Operate and maintain monitoring equipment. · Conduct data collection, management, analysis, and reporting related to field sampling activities. · Analyze exposure data and contribute to manuscript preparation. · Assist in mentoring graduate students and research staff. Preferred skills: Strong foundation in statistical analytical skills, exposure sciences, and industrial hygiene. Experience in field and lab work involving environmental or occupational exposures. Minimum Education: PhD in environmental and occupational health sciences, epidemiology, or related field. Doctoral/Terminal Degree Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
