School of Chemical Engineering – Faculty of EAIT Full-time (100%), fixed term through to 30/9/2029 Base salary will be in the range $85,372.89 - $113,659.72 + 17% super (Academic Level A) Visa sponsorship is not available for this position Based at our St Lucia Campus - Brisbane About This Opportunity Join our team as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and develop your skills in electrochemical engineering through the design, testing and performance evaluation of CO2 electrolysers. This position is funded by the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Green Electrochemical Transformation of Carbon Dioxide (GETCO2). You will build your expertise and strengthen your research profile within a multidisciplinary project team. The role includes contributing to service and engagement activities across the ARC Centre of Excellence for Green Electrochemical Transformation of Carbon Dioxide and the School of Chemical Engineering, alongside opportunities to develop your teaching capability. Key responsibilities will include: Research: Develop a coherent research program and emerging profile, delivering high-quality outputs in leading outlets. The role includes securing competitive funding, collaborating on joint projects, translating research into practice including commercialisation of UQ intellectual property, and applying best practice research methodologies. Supervision and Researcher Development: Support the supervision of Honours and HDR students, contribute to researcher development, and, where required, manage research staff and resolve issues in line with University policies. Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate behaviours aligned with UQ values, contribute to key activities within the Centre of Excellence and School of Chemical Engineering, support colleagues and operations as needed, and engage in internal service roles while building external partnerships across industry, government and the community. Teaching: Where undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is undertaken achieve teaching quality as indicated by approved surveys and outcomes for students and improve or innovate where appropriate in response to feedback. About You Completed PhD in chemical engineering or electrochemistry or related discipline. Have an emerging profile in research in electrochemical engineering. At least 3 years of experience working with electrolysers in a research laboratory setting, and preferably at least 9 months of experience working with CO2 electrolysers. Experience operating gas chromatographs, potentiostats, and other auxiliary equipment required for CO2 electrolysis experiments. Strong data processing and analysis skills, including fluency in Python coding, and some experience using multiphysics modelling tools. Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences. Capability to contribute towards successfully obtaining external research funding. Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
