INTRODUCTION TO THE CENTRE FOR PRECISION FERMENTATION AND SUSTAINABILITY:
The Centre for Precision Fermentation and Sustainability (PreFerS) is a research program hosted by the Illinois Advanced Research Center at Singapore Ltd. (Illinois ARCS). The program aims to develop advanced fundamental sciences and technologies to implement fermentation-based production of foods and food ingredients, and also to enhance food security and sustainability in Singapore, particularly addressing the micronutrient food insecurity through precision fermentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology, Metabolic Engineering, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
(2) Extensive experiences in strain engineering and high-performance liquid chromatography.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in culturing and engineering of lactic acid bacteria.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
(1) Strong wet lab skills in microbial pathway design, plasmid construction, and strain engineering.
(2) In-depth knowledge of microbial metabolism and gene regulation.
(3) Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research team.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Scientist to join our team in microbial synthetic biology and metabolic engineering. Our research focuses on designing and engineering microbial systems for applications in precision fermentation. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on interdisciplinary research at the interface of microbial pathway engineering, metabolic regulation, and advanced analytical techniques.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) Conduct high-level research in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, both independently and in collaboration with internal and external researchers.
(2) Perform experiments involving microbial pathway design, plasmid construction and strain development in microbes.
(3) Utilize advanced analytical techniques such as fluorescence microscopy and high-performance liquid chromatography for experimental validation.
(4) Develop research content and contribute to the writing of peer-reviewed publications.
