The Health Policy Trials Unit (HPTU) in the O¿Brien Institute of Public Health at the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM), University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Health Economics.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar in Health Economics to join an academic partnership between the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services. This position will contribute novel research in the field of Health Economics, improving evidence generation across the cancer care continuum in Alberta.
You will be expected to make substantial contributions to the development and refinement of research questions and methods and lead a program of research in health economics and health systems research. The candidate is expected to have an excellent understanding of health economics and health policy, including economic evaluation, health systems research, advanced econometrics, and knowledge mobilization. You will bring experience and expertise in the areas of economic impact analysis, cost effectiveness, cost utility analysis, cost efficiency, and cost of equity, and other relevant areas.
The candidate will develop manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, and obtain other relevant research experience, including grant writing. You will undertake independent analysis and research, within a multidisciplinary team, in a fast moving and changing environment with multiple stakeholders such as clinicians, operational leaders, patients and families, government, funders, and the academic community. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with strategic advisors, leaders, and policy makers within Alberta Health Services. You will generate evidence to inform and guide a provincial program of work focused on improving cancer care in Alberta.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful applicants will have completed their PhD within the last 5 years, with expertise in applied health economics, including the use of administrative health, survey, and electronic medical record data, and a competitive publication list and academic record.
