Description

Department Overview The Lobingier Laboratory seeks an intellectually curious, team-oriented, and motivated postdoctoral scholar to investigate questions related to molecular and cellular mechanisms of GPCR signaling and trafficking. The scholar will receive training in areas related to their specific project and will also be encouraged to seek out relevant collaborators within and outside the institution with the help of Dr. Lobingier. The successful applicant will work on at least one project and will have expertise and demonstrated interest in GPCR molecular pharmacology or neuropharmacology, cell biology, or membrane trafficking. Dr. Lobingier will provide rigorous hands-on training in project design, securing independent funding through grant and fellowship applications, delivering effective research presentations, forging collaborations, writing and publishing manuscripts, and other skills necessary for the applicant to one day run their own independent research group. Function/Duties of Position Design and conduct independent research projects in consultation with Dr. Lobingier related to the lab’s areas of focus. Contributes to the development of experimental procedures and standard operating procedures within the lab and assists in training of new lab personnel. Maintains an accurate lab notebook, computational notebook where relevant, and follows lab guidelines on data archiving/storage. Attends lab meeting, applies for independent funding and assists with grant-writing related to the assigned projects, presents research at conferences, writes and edits manuscripts. Contributes as part of the team to general laboratory tasks, including but not limited to: autoclaving, preparation of cloning reagents, supply ordering, mycoplasma testing, laboratory and equipment maintenance, etc. Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. Required Qualifications PhD in related field. Research experience in GPCR molecular pharmacology, membrane trafficking, and/or cell biology. Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and oral formats. Demonstrated independence in preparing and delivering quality oral presentations and manuscripts. High level of self-motivation and integrity. Demonstrated track record of completing independent research in one or more of the required Experience areas. Preferred Qualifications One or more of the following areas of expertise: primary neuronal cultures, mammalian cell culture, GPCR signaling assays, proteomics, genomics, fixed or live cell imaging. Demonstrated independence in securing fellowships and funding. Additional Details Position is located at the OHSU Marquam Hill campus in Portland, Oregon. Wet lab experiments must be performed on-site. Work environment is in an open wet lab, in the presence of laboratory chemicals and automated equipment. Additional safety training and animal use training will be required depending on the specific project decided upon in consultation with Dr. Lobingier.
