Multiple Part time Positions (7.5 hours per week) for up to 3 years fixed term employment aligned with PhD enrolment Located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Chemistry Excellent opportunity to develop into the next generation of university academics Base Salary Level A $89,831 p.a. - $121,054 p.a, pro-rata + 17% superannuation MUST BE ENROLLED IN A PHD (PREFERRED) OR MPHIL DEGREE IN THE SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY About the opportunity The School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney is one of Australia's main centres for chemical research and education. We have access to a comprehensive range of modern research and teaching facilities. The School attracts outstanding undergraduate students, including large numbers of talented students, from all over Australia. It has a large cohort of postgraduate research students and offers a vibrant and world class research environment. The School is currently seeking Honours graduates in all areas of Chemistry for a few part-time (0.2 FTE) appointments at Associate Lectureship level. You must be enrolled in a PhD (preferred) or MPhil degree in the School of Chemistry and expect to remain enrolled for up to three years. The salary of this position is in addition to scholarship funding. This Fellowship Program provides training and experience in tertiary teaching to outstanding postgraduate candidates with the aim of developing the next generation of university academics. Your key responsibilities will be to: conduct and prepare for first-year tutorials during both semesters in all areas of first-year chemistry conduct examination marking respond to student enquiries undertake administrative functions participate in University events and outreach activities, such as Open Days prepare online and/or in-person training modules or contribute to tutorial rewrites/updates. Training will be provided by School of Chemistry staff, including recipients of local and national teaching awards. Further support will be provided throughout the year by academic staff involved in the teaching program. Additionally, you will attend training modules run by the Division of Teaching and Learning in the University (topics include team teaching, creating positive environments, and peer-peer learning).
