Description

The Power Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of an Engineer as defined by the Province of Prince Edward Island Boiler and Pressure Vessels Act, working in a 12-hour shift work environment.

  • Hourly Wage: $26.62/hr. - $48.51/hr. (depending on the license you hold)
  • Daily walk around- Visually verify all equipment is functioning properly around the plant: compressors (16), air compressors (3), tunnels where fries are frozen (2), spiral fryers (2), cold storage (3), boilers, etc.
  • Small repairs– The operator may complete small repairs such as draining oil, fixing leaks requiring the use of small hand tools such as pipe wrenches, etc.
  • Log checks- The operator completes the log every 2-hours. This includes checking specific items such as temperature, pressure, water levels, etc.
  • Monitoring- Must monitor various pressures, temperatures, flows, levels, various sensors, acknowledge alarms associated with the equipment.
  • Preventive maintenance could include, but is not limited to, checking pumps, motors, belts, strainers, and do work on parts requiring replacing, taking apart, etc.
  • The operator must dust the compressors (1-hr/week), mop floors (approx. 45 min)
  • All employees have an obligation to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate corrective action.
  • Ensure housekeeping Day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment standards are maintained.
  • Trouble shoot issues and conduct preventative maintenance.
  • Participate in projects and conduct new equipment installations.
  • Conduct training on plant equipment.
  • Must hold a standardized Class 2,1 Power Engineer license (Class 3 or 4 Power Engineer with relevant experience may be considered)
  • Proven expertise in ammonia refrigeration systems is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and operational best practices specific to ammonia systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
