Global Gourmet Foods is a division of Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (TSX: PBH) which owns a broad range of leading specialty food manufacturing and differentiated food distribution businesses with operations. Global Gourmet Foods is a federally registered food manufacturer who supplies premium kettle products to key accounts in both domestic and export markets.
We are seeking dynamic individuals that can work with the Maintenance department. Power Engineer / Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring all kettle temperature control systems are stable and that all water tube boilers and auxiliary equipment are meeting regulatory boiler water specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 4th Class Power Engineer or willing to acquire
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in operating 100hp fire water tube boilers and feed water systems, 100psi steam systems and condensate returns
  • Fluent in written and oral English, knowledge of other languages such as Chinese would be an asset
  • Ability to do minor maintenance on boilers
  • Ability to do TIG welding
  • Ability to work independently and co-operatively with the maintenance team in each area of expertise
  • Ability to work in day shift (8-10 hours)
  • Ability to respond to emergency work after hours, any day of the week
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing industry is an asset

Responsibilities
  • Operate fire tube boilers and auxiliary equipment such as feed water systems, 100psi steam systems, condensate returns and other equipment to provide heat and water for buildings, industrial plants and other work sites
  • Conduct boiler water sampling and perform routine blow downs to maintain boiler water specifications
  • Monitor and maintain kettle temperature control systems and all pressure reducing and safety values
  • Troubleshoot and service steam traps, condensate return pumps, piping insulation, cladding, standby generators and perform routine running checks to detect leaks or other equipment malfunctions and to ensure plant equipment is operating at maximum efficiency
  • Assist in maintaining all production equipment such as kettles, packaging equipment, transfer pumps, conveyors, boxing machine, etc.
  • Complete work orders and preventative maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Provide input, feedback and seek help from within and other departments for areas of concern or for possible improvements and development of operation, maintenance and safety procedures
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality problems to Quality department and Management to initiate corrective actions
