Salary: $2,865.63 to $2,956.70 bi-weekly ($74,792 - $77,169/year)
Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3rd Class Power Engineer’s Certificate plus 2 years of related experience.
- Supervisory skills and ability to direct the work of skilled trades
- Strong working knowledge of physical plant equipment and systems of considerable scale and complexity including boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, power distribution, fire/life safety systems and building control systems.
Assets:
- 5 years of related experience is a preferred asset.
- BMCS Operator certification
- Experience operating commercial buildings.
- Confined space and fall protection certification.
- Completion of Aerial Lift Safety Training

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, the Power Plant Supervisor is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Edmonton Law Courts, a large physical building comprised of an array of heating and cooling equipment, humidification, digital control system, fire/life safety system and an emergency backup generator. The position is required to supervise a skilled unit of Power Plant Engineers/Maintenance Service worker and liaise with other trade staff regarding projects or maintenance activities.
The primary responsibilities for the Power Plant Supervisor include, but are not limited to:
- Act as a subject matter expert regarding the technical operation of the facility.
- Instruct, train, assign work to subordinates and perform annual performance appraisals.
- Retain records, certify timesheets, and prepare reports.
- Identify, analyze and recommend solutions to problems in area of plant operation.
- Maintain material inventories and authorize material purchases.
- Working with a site wide BMCS ensure various utility delivery components operate efficiently and effectively.
