Job Description Purpose of the Job The Power Supply Design Engineer is in charge to perform and follow a part of the Power Supply and Distribution design activity with the support of the Power Supply Design Leader. He/She will have to perform power supply system design, calculation notes, simulations, and calculations to specify electrical equipment for Traction and Power substations and to verify the conformity of suppliers’ design with the Contract Specification. He/She will have to ensure the coordination of design with all other systems and equipment of the project. He/She will provide design input for system engineering activities such as requirement management, configuration management, system assurance, and EMC studies. Organisational Reporting Reports operationally and hierarchically to the Power Supply Design Leader. Network & Links Coordination with the Project team, system integration team, consultant, end client, and internal/external stakeholders. Responsibilities Perform power supply system design and detailed engineering for a railway electrification project (high voltage / medium voltage / traction / low voltage). Analyze project specifications and requirements. Perform simulations using ETAP and SIGNON. Review and validate suppliers’ technical drawings and calculations. Prepare Bill of Quantity (BOQ). Deliver single line diagrams, functional specifications, and technical drawings. Prepare design reports and schedules. Review suppliers’ offers for compliance with customer requirements. Manage coordination, interfaces, and Requests for Information (RFI). Coordinate with: Customer, utility, contractors Other subsystems (communication, signaling, trackwork, SCADA) Suppliers, subcontractors, partners Prepare construction documentation (cable schedules, cable lists, block diagrams). Participate in as-built documentation. Measurement (Performance Criteria) Timely delivery of deliverables Quality of documents Accuracy of work Client satisfaction Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Certification in Electrical Engineering, with 2 to 5 years of experience in Electrical Power Supply and Distribution System in Railway / Metro Project Desired Knowledge / Experience Leadership, initiative and decision minded Proficient in electricity, electrical equipment, protection settings. Proficient in MS Offices and AutoCAD. Conscientious and rigorous in his/her work. Excellent in writing and editorial skills. Possess excellent co-ordination and communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to work as part of the team and independently. Good knowledge in electrical engineering calculations and high voltage / medium voltage / 1500VDC traction. Fluent in English. Desired Advantage Experience and competency in railway traction system and simulation study. Experience and competency and railway system high voltage network and power systems study.
