JOB SUMMARY

The Power Engineer – Large Load Integration supports the integration of large, flexible loads into the Client’s system. This role focuses on:

  • Reviewing interconnection studies
  • Performing power flow and load behavior analysis
  • Interfacing with Transmission Service Providers (TSPs)
  • Developing tools, procedures, and displays to ensure reliable system operations
  • Providing subject matter expertise (SME) across Client’s teams

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (Required)
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years in power system engineering or electric utility role
  • Power flow analysis and interconnection studies
  • Understanding of electrical one-line diagrams and drawings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Initiative-driven and comfortable working independently
  • Proficiency in Python, Seeq, PI, and/or Jira
  • Experience with PSSE or PowerWorld
  • Familiarity with modeling, data analysis, and tool development
  • Ability to work across departments and with diverse teams
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Subject Matter Expertise:
  • Serve as SME on large load topics
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and presentations
  • Provide internal training and guidance
  • Analysis & Studies:
  • Perform power flow studies and review interconnection requests
  • Analyze consumption behavior and impact on grid reliability
  • Evaluate studies for Client’s and NERC compliance
  • Tool & Process Development:
  • Create tools, dashboards, and documentation
  • Develop situational awareness solutions for internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to enhancements in protocols and operational guides
  • Collaboration & Leadership:
  • Work cross-functionally with Client’s teams
  • Lead or participate in task forces and development programs
  • Collaborate with upper management to align with Client’s mission
  • Market & Policy Involvement:
  • Understand and track market rules and load behavior incentives
  • Support or represent Client in technical committees and industry forums
