Seeking a skilled Power Systems Engineer to support electrical infrastructure projects with a focus on substation protection and control design. In this role, you’ll perform power system studies including arc flash, load flow, and coordination analysis while using tools like SKM or ETAP and ensuring compliance with NEC, IEEE, and other industry standards. Ideal candidates will have experience evaluating protective devices, generating TCCs, and conducting field site visits. Occasional travel may be required to project sites in Alabama or North Carolina.

responsibilities:

  • Perform power systems studies, including load flow analysis, voltage drop calculations, short circuit studies, coordination, and arc flash analysis using SKM Power Tools or ETAP
  • Develop and evaluate time-current curves (TCCs) and select appropriate overcurrent and differential protective devices (OCPDs)
  • Conduct site visits to collect field data and validate system conditions
  • Design electrical substation protection and control systems in compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and NEMA standards
  • Support electrical physical design and layout of substation and power distribution equipment
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and engineering reports for studies and analysis
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with NFPA 70B recommendations and safety protocols
  • Support strategic planning and system evaluations for commercial and industrial transmission and distribution systems
  • Report to either office of field job sites depending on project requirements
  • Maintain knowledge of evolving industry standards, tools, and technologies related to power systems engineering
