Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity We’re looking for an experienced Power Technician to join our Energy & Utilities team based in Paeroa, working across the Powerco network.  This is a hands-on, senior technical role focused on high-voltage protection, substation equipment, Comms testing, commissioning, and fault response. You’ll be trusted to work independently on critical infrastructure, supported by a knowledgeable team that understands the complexity of the work and values doing it right. This is a full-time, permanent position offering between $45-$65ph with skill rates, a rewarding after-hours roster, real responsibility, and plenty of technical variety ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving and a challenge. Participation in our in HV Electrical works offers excellent earning potential.  Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills We’re seeking an experienced Power Technician or skilled Electrician to train up, who’s comfortable working at the sharp end of the network and takes pride in quality, safe work. Minimum requirements for the role include:  * Current EWRB electrical registration with a practising licence * Level 4 Trade Certificate  * Level 5 Power Tech Qualification Desirable but not essential  * Current Class 1 manual driver’s license * Class 2 Licence Desirable but not essential  * Strong experience working on HV protection systems and substation equipment * Confidence testing, commissioning, and fault-finding on live network assets * A safety-first mindset and solid understanding of HV risks * The ability to work independently, make good decisions, and back your judgment. * Willingness to be part of an after-hours, on-call roster   Ngā Painga o te Mahi ki Downer | Benefits of working with Downer Our purpose is to enable communities to thrive, driven by your passion and dedication.
